The teams played six extra matches in a special exhibition .which was played Sunday instead of Saturday after a traditional "Soph Hop" rain had forced its postponement. The Lions took seven of the ten singles matches and three of the five doubles in .scoring the win. - Cy Hull opened for the Lions -at the number one spot by stop ping his own coach, Ted Roethke, .in straight sets, 6-3, 6-4. Herb Kraybill of the Lions was defeat ed by Ray Dickison, former tennis captain for Colorado State and •former conference titlist, by 6-3, .6-3 scores. Dick Armbrust, playing at the 'number three position, was trounced by Ace Parker, former Sion star, 6-1, 6-3. Jim Lawther •overpowered Harry , MoShner of the faculty in straight sets, 6-3, 6-1, and •Stan Spurgeon downed Bruce Pegge, 6-0, 64, for the Lions' third singles victory. Horace Smith, another Lion newcomer, defeated George Szasz, 6-3, 6-4, but I-Ying Li, Chinese graduate student, came fro'm be hind after a slow start to down Bill Lundelius of the Lions, 4-6, 6-0, 6-0. Sophomore Bill Dickson trim med John Aston, 6-1, 6-3, and 'Ted Maier won his match for the Lions by stopping Larry Voris, 6-2, 6-1. Lee Reinheimer took the final singles match for the varsity by winning over Jack . Geist by 6-1, 6-4 scores. The faculty came back strong in the' doubles to - take - the first two matches. Coach Roethke and Ace Parker teamed to defeat Hull and Lundelius, 6-4, 4-6, 6-1, and Li and Dickison outlasted Kray bill and Armbrust;-6-2, 10-8. Lawther and Smith won the Lions' first doubles victory by stopping Peg'ge and Szasz, 6-4, 6-1.
