PAGE FOUR Home Ec To Alumnae To Gather For Annual Meeting The home economist’s contribu tion to present day family life •will be the theme of the fourth annual Home Economics Alumnae Conference in Home Economics from 9 a. m. to 4 p. m. today. All alumnae, townspeople, mothers, and students are invited. Guests will register in Home Economics lobby from 9 to 10 a. 3U. where, during a coffee .hour. Prof. R. W. Kerns, of the State Extension Service, will show how home-made games are con structed and played. Miss Margery Vaughn, nutri tionist of the United States Office of Defense Health and Welfare, Washington, D. C., will speak on “Nutrition for Health,” in 110 Home Economics from 10 to 11 a. m., and will begin group dis cussions with a lecture on “Nu trition for Defense” from 2 to 3:30 p. m. Students interested in consumer problems may meet with Dr. Benjamin A. Andrews, Columbia University, in 19 Home Economics from 10 to 11 a. m. Dr. Mildred T. Tate, Virginia Polytechnic In stitute, will discuss family life problems with interested persons in the Nursery School at 11 a. m. The film, “And So They Live,” from the Sloan Foundation Serv ices, will be shown from 11 a. m. to 12 noon. Miss Elizabeth Beveridge, Wom en’s Home Companion, home man agement editor, and Miss Agnes Brumbaugh, College home eco nomics extension director, will hold conferences with interested coeds after 9 a. m. Women may sign for talks to day, and Tuesday on lists posted on a bulletin boards in Home Econom ics lobby. Conference climax will be a student-faculty Career Day dinner in the Maple Room at 7 p. m. Guest speaker will be Miss Clara M. Brown, professor of home econom ics education, University of Min nesota, who started curricular problem work at the College on a visit in 1939-40. Thomas ’43, has been working out on Holmes Field from 4 to 6:30 p. m. every after noon. Coached by their advisor, Miss Harriet Gray, graduate assistant in physical education; club members will shoot from April 21 to 28, eight highest scores to be recorded and telegraphed to Boston, head quarters for the meet. The contest will include the Col umbia Round, corisisting of 24 ar rows shot at 50, 40, and 30 yards each. It takes most coeds about an hour and a half to complete such a round. ■ This will be the 13th yeqr that the nation-wide contest has, taken place.
