He stated modest ly that anyone’s guess was as good as his but the College’s rec ords for the past 58 years show that Christmas day has been just average, as far as weather is con cerned, more than it hasn’t. Hans H. Neuberger, instructor of geophysics and one of the Col lege’s weather also said that this unusual spell of warm weather that has been ex perienced for the last few days will definitely not be here until Christmas. Weather maps Which he presented show that the tem perature will be normal by the beginning of next week or sooner. CHRISTMAS GREETINGS A HAPPY NEW YEAR front COLLEGE CUT RATE W. Christmas Trees Make Appearance On Streets Christmas trees are being placed in the business section of State College this week and plans are under way for the decoration of a huge evergreen in front of main campus gate. As has been the custom for the past two years, small trees are placed on Allen street, . College avenue and Beaver avenue. A new system of tree erection is be ing inaugurated this year as the trees are fastened in flag holes. Because of the shortage of elec trical equipment due to defense priorities merchants were not asked to light the trees this year. However, as before, the large tree at the gate was erected and dec orated by the Elks club of State College. Electricity expenses are paid by the College. Students are asked to cooperate in keeping the tree in good con dition by refraining from taking light bulbs or breaking branches. | A GIFT OF LASTING § | PLEASURE ... jjf 1 .
