STICKM Victory Over Maroon Nets Sixth In Row By BERNIE NEWMAN The Nittany Lion stickmen very handily trounced Lafayette, 12-1, last Saturday on New Beaver Field and drew to an end the most successful season in the history of the sport at Penn State. This was the Lions' sixth consecutive win, after losing to Army and Maryland in the season's openers. The Lions had a small job on their hands in hurdling the Maroon, for the first period hadn't ended when the Statemen already realized six markers to their credit. Coach Nick Thiel immediately drafted his re serves, and before the half was over every Marl on the squad saw action. Defense Men Shifted George Ritter and Bud Meyer, regular defensive men, were shifted to the attack during the latter part of the fray and (lid surprisingly well. Both men roamed the field capably and registered a point each. Al Simp son, Joe Proksa, Captain Selly Cohn, and Joe Snook, although playing their final game, diddle see much action in the breather. '.Ray Coskery, with an assist from Cohn, was the first to score for the Lions. Cohn followed and tallied on a beautiful an gl e shot. Andrukitis racked up the next one and Snook followed with a perfect shovel shot. Scooping up a loose ball in the cen ter of the field, Simpson tore through the defense and jumped high in the air to fire one in. Ralph DeFalco ended the scoring in the . first period when he chalked up number six. 'the State reserves missed some op portunities to score in the second quarter when Krausse muffed a few passes directly in front of his goal. Johnny Price zipped one in but the referee ruled it nil, claiming Price to be in the crease. :Ritter scored the first point in the second half with Rumbaugh following unassisted. Meyer, playing attack, dodged through for another. The Ma roon then scored their 'first and only point of the afternoon when Ogilvie slipped one in following a melee in front of his goal. Snook and Cookery scored again in the early part of the last quarter. A few minutes later Snook came through again after receiving a pass from Wuensehel, gainitig the day's scoring honors. Cookery had two to his credit. ~i~~j►~i~~~~~~~~hi I/f~~~a~~►~~ir~i~~i~~le7~C~~~C~~~~fl Watts Hall, P Non-Fraternity gushball The nu-hit, no-run pitching of Wade Mori swept Watts trait 2 to the championship of the Independent League as B.
