Line Suggested To Cut Accidents Changes in the present form of in tramural football will be discussed and voted upon at neat week's meet ing of the Intramural board, accord ing to Eugen C. Bischoff, director of intramurals. In an effort to reduce the number of injuries to participants, a survey was made of the ways in which other schools have solved the problem. The graduate course in Research Tech niques in Major Sports conducted by Prof. John D. Lowther sent question naires to a large number of colleges M the country, and formed certain conclusions from the results. It is apparent that the movement is to make the game more open. To do this the number of players on a team is reduced, all men are eligible for a forward pass, all plays must be forward passes or laterals, linemen may not crouch, but must stand in position until the ball is passed. This cuts down on power plays. In some cases only basketball blocks were le gally used. The plan to be proposed at next week's meeting consists of 'nine men on a team, six linemen and three backs, standing block in line play, and everyone eligible for forward passes. Through the opening up of the game and eliminating of power, it is hoped that injuries will be re duced to a ininimum. Phonographic recordings of the speech of distinguished faculty mem bers of the college will be made by the division •of speech to form the first part of a permanent album of open quote voices of Penn State.
