By DICK LEWIS "Finding" themselves in the second half, an aggressive, if inexperienced, Penn State paSsing combination, composed of four sophomores and a transfer student; defeated an experi enced, tenacious Ithaca five by a 3S to-32 score before a capacity mob which alternately groaned and shout ed itself hoarse in Recreation hall Saturday night. For fourteen minutes of the first half, the Ithaca cagers, fresh from two victoties over Susquehanna and ltloomsburg State Teachers enroute, outplayed and outscored the power less Mainly varsity. Six minutes beto•e the half, Spike Leslie sent in hiS "second team" to pull the game cut of the - hole. The score was to-10 in favor. of the visitors when the new team entered. The combination, with Reichenbach at center, Pllehoff and Pomerantz at forwards and Proksa and Peterson at guards, stepped out nervously; their inexperience was evident when they forgot to report to the referee, which cost the Lions a technical foul. Sol -.lnchon made his Acbut into intercol legiate varsity basketball circles by plunking two foul shots to bring State's score up to twelve points, All-Opponent Selections I By a poll taken from a majority of the lettermen on the football team, the following all-opponent team has been selected: FIRST TEAM L.B. At the end of the half, the ragged Lions had tightened up their defense and had netted three points, to make the score 15-to-18 in favor of the invaders. The crisis came when the second half . had gotten , fairly under way, and the visitors had widened the gap, leaving the Lions with a seven-point deficit. But the Lions found themselves and tightened their defense, forcing the Ithacans to chance shots from mid-floor. Then the Nittany machine began to forge ahead. With field goals in rapid succession by Pomer antz, Reichenbach, Michoff, and Proksa, the Blue and White crept up to the Ithaca lead and surged ahead, scoring nineteen points and holding the visitors with an airtight defense. The score reached 34-to-25, with the Lions roaring full blast in the lend. In the last period, the Ithacans rallied' under the leadership of Pis manolf, Ithaca's high-scoring guard, and Dillon, center, who barraged the State basket for six more points. With the substitution of .Mike Nor nick for Pomerantz, the Ithaca rally was checked. Sol Miehoff dropped the ball into the net twice in the last few seconds of the game to give the victorious Lions a six-point lead as the final gun boomed.
