Meds ger as professor of nature education service, was announced today by Prof. J. Orvis Keller, head of the exten sion department. At present, Medsger is teaching extension classes in York, Altoona, Clearfield, and Mt. Pleasant. He is also consultant for the Museum of Natural History, New York, being an expert on wild plant seeds. Before accepting his present posi tion, Medsger taught in the New Jer sey schools for thirty years and taught on the extension staff of Rut gers University. Faculty Men To Read Papers at Convention Dr. Wheeler P. Davey, of the de partment of chemistry, and Dr. Hen ry W. Popp and Prof. James W. Sin den, of the department of botany, will present papers before , the meet ing of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, to be held in Pittsburgh, December 27-30. Dr. Davey will read three papers, prepared in joint authorship with other scientists, at the meeting of the American Physical society. The sub jects include “Condensation of Metal Vapors on Cold Surfaces/’ “The Over all Expansion of Copper from Abso lute Zero to the Melting Point,” and “Conditions Necessary for Producing Laboratory Metal Ingots.” Dr. Popp and Professor Sindcn will present their papers at the meeting of the botanical society. Students and. faculty members are planning to attend the convention and meet ings of various science associations. Mrs. Sparks Gives Rare Newspaper To Library A newspaper rarity much sought after by collectors, a genuine copy of The. Daily Citizen, printed in Vicks burg, Miss., June 27, .1863, has been presented to the College library by Mrs. Edwin E. Sparks, widow of a former president of the College.' ; The paper, which is included in a miscellaneous collection of books and material presented by Mrs. Sparks, is printed on wallpaper because of the scarcity of ordinary paper at that time. A letter proving the authenti city of the paper is included. The library also has a counterfeit copy of an issue of the same newspaper.
