STAFF Outside Financial Aid Permits New Members, Gauger Announces Five new members have been added to the staff of research workers at the mineral industries experiment sta tion ns a result of financial assist ance received from outside agencies, Dr. Alfred W. Gauger, director of mineral industries research, announc ed [recently. Dr. Elliot P. Barrett, former assist ant in chemistry at Columbia Univer sity, will study the clinkering of coal. Dr. J. 11. -Lum, chemical and fuel en gineer, and 0. P. Bryseh, who came here from the Koppers Research cor poration, will work on the ignition temperatures and oxidation velocity of anthracites, .while Dr. F. J. Wil liams, formerly of the Ohio State University and the Columbia Branch of the Bureau of Standards, will study the effects of moisture on coal. Glen Burgener ’3O, the fifth mem ber of the staff; returned here from the University of Utah where •he spent the last two years making mic roscopic studies of apaque minerals.
