In 192 G, Bill Cox, after entering the 1924 Olympics, captured first place in the run, as Nittany runners gained their first leg on the trophy. It was the same Bill Cox who came back in 1927 to lead the pack and the Penn State cross country team to its second victory. 1928 saw Cox capture third/ place in the annual race, and the Lion hill and dalers their third championship. But the next year a green Lion team failed in its quest of the fourth suc cessive crown, bowing to Penn, and it remained for Dctwilcr, Mcisingcr, and Rekors to- regain the diadem in one of the most brilliant races in the as sociation’s history.
