Page Pour NITTANY ROOTERS HOLD SCRIMMAGES AO Candidates Engage in Daily Practices-7 Lettermen Return to Squad Fifteen-minute scrimmages, goal kicking, "heading" practice using a volleyball net, and rope skipping was Oh! program for Lion soccer team candidates this week. The first scrim mage was held Monday. Arrivalthis we2k have swelled th 2 size of the squad to forty. In ad dition to seven lettermen headed by Captain Al Daykin, all-American cen ter halfback, nearly a dozen other men who had OTeriance with the team last year have joined the ranks. Chadwick, Manwaring, V osbur y, Tully, Lindquist, Altemus, Hansen, Young, Hoffeditz, and Wood are among the hooters who will probably defend the Lion soccer record. Lion: Prospects Encouraging Sophomore soccermen include Hill, Sigel, Graham, AMbler, Fletcher, Ilailman, and Ostrom. Additional men who registered late have con tinued to increase the numbers of the soccer squad this week. Coach Bill Jeffrey regards this sea son's prospects as encouraging for the Blue and White booters. Lafay ette, the team which will open the season here October 8, was a Lion victim last year 4-to-O, although ru mor says the Leopards will put up a tougher scrap this fall.
