YEARLING BOOTERS DRILL
FOR VARSITY SCRIMMAGE
Valuable Material Evidenced in
Freshman Squad—Eisenhulh
- Coaches New Men
More than thirty aspirants for the
freshman soccer squad have been
practicing daily on the Armoiy dril 1
held for the past two weeks. Al
though no regular games have been
scheduled for the plebos during the
full, J. L Eisenhuth '27, has been
running ’-them through booting and
passing practices m preparation for
scrimmages with the Varsity.
During the practice games between
two freshman teams several of tin'
new men displayed unusuul speed and
accuracy in kicking and heading. The
real quality of the yearling combi
nation was not tested, however, until
i met the Varsity in scrimmage.
Freshmen Score
In the first contest the freshmen
held the regulars to four goals, scor
ing one themselves. The second meet
ing of the plobes and Varsity last
Saturday found conditions the same,
the former netting one goal against
four for the lattei
Although the Varsity fonvnid line
is weak m its pre-season form, the
plcbe backficld showed unusual de
fensive powei in scrimmage
Among the freshmen displaying the
most experience on the field are Al
lan and Haivcy, fullbacks, Edgcrton,
center-half, and Jones, center for
ward. All these booters weie pre
pared at Westtovvn Friend’s school,
where they staned for the soccer
team of that institution.
According to Coach Jeffries, who
has seen the freshmen in action a-
gninst the Varsity, much good ma
terial will be furnished for next
ycai’s team
