Thomas peisuaded lum to come to Middlebury to conduct summer in stitutes in 1914 and to take perma nent chnige of the work in French as a resident faculty member five years later. While here he became direct oi of the Ecole Champlain, Ferris buig, Vermont, a school on the insti tute plan for young people. Three years after Dr. Thomas be came president of Penn State, Pro fessor DeVisme joined the faculty of this College and oigamzed the first Ficnch Institute for the Nittany in stitution during the summer of 1924. With the offer of greater opportuni ties and feeling that he can be of greater service by going on to this new field, Professor DeVisme will be gin his work at Itutgeis. Frofessor DeVisme is a graduate of Princeton university and obtained Ins Master of Arts Degree at Middle- Reasonable Prices.
