"Little in terest" preel, ely e\precce% it th. coatis meeting lell lull beciusc it was not attended the mealing was alianged for tlic impose or calling the 1111.1n hers of the two upperclasses together, some twehe bundled of them, lor an open discussicn of the campas problems which must be settled by the undergraduates At eight o'clock the at tend:lnce numbered 130 men by actual count' And therein Tics the reason why the mass meeting was called, there is the mason why there e \ mu, on this campus some undesir able conditions which arc quickly taking awn front th.s imaitution, and from its student body, those things this have long been its moral and physical fiber The finger of accusation points directly at eery man and woman of the two upperciasses who was not present at that meeting Those NwrICI did attend were the men who have the best interests of Penn State at heart, they aie the men who have tried, as far as individulls can try, to eliminate every objectionable thing on this campus It is disheartening to those who are sincere and who wish to perpetuste everything good relating to Penn State, to witness such an utter lack of interest in the welfare of this institution by its under graduates Another meeting will he called at a later date If you eles , re to see the old order changed on the Pcnn State c'impus, attend the cc , t meeting and help to do it' GIVE DEBATING A CHANCE While the underclassmen are revelling at the annual Sophomore Hop tonight, Penn State's affirmative debating team will take the platform against Dickinson College in the Auditorium One thou sand er more upperclassmen will read this announcement and give the debate no other consideration than merely a nod of the head To these students the following remarks arc directed ror several years, a loyal group of men has labored to put Penn 'State in its rightful place in the intercollegiate debating world, and the degree of success that these workers have attained is evi denced by the achiepements of Nittany forensic teams in the past Alter incessant effort, success has come, but most of it has been ac compl.shed without the aid of the student body It is difficult for sn)one to speak comincingly to empty seats By turtling out to witness tonight's contest, the Penn State man will not only demonstrate his loyalty, but he, too, will benefit by the discussion The presentation of clear, forceful argument, upholding or attacking problems that arc facing the entire world today, should be sufficient incentive for every student to attend at least one debate timing his college career Debating is an institution at Penn State and cannot esist with out undei graduate support liTiscouragements, chiefly in the form of small attendances, have been the order of things at almost eve!) , student gathering this year. But in spite of these adverse condi tions, the dLhating team has done well and the coaches and mem bers of the squad alike should he commended Tonight, there are no other events to divert tne attention of the humors and seniors. Let them rLspect the efforts of their fellow students by filling, the Auditorium to capacity—Tor once' THE LIBERAL ARTIST'S LABORATORI 'I he old, old feeling that "nobody's trouble is quite likely my trouble," is told in the good-natured disagreement eiosting among the students as to du, ielative burdens imposed upon them within then Ono's For instance, the Chemistry student who spends most of his al ternoont, in the laboratory is inclined to gaze enviously at his Com mei cc and Finance brother who seems to have considerable free time Or, it is the Home Economics girl, spending her afternoons in practi. cute sessions, who experiences a sinular Feeling in regard to her sister majoring in English If the difference of opinion is carried to any great extent, the chemist brings out a schedule which shows that he is carrying thirty hours a week On demand, the Commerce and Finance student pre sents one which pi obably indicates that his presence is icquned in classes For eighteen hours during the same time The ci edits each re cl-Ives may be the same The same parallel exists between the Home Fooncmics girl and the Liberal Artist.
