FOR THE GAME Foremost among the qualities upon which Penn State men rest their claims for recognition among the colleges and universities of the country is that of sportsmanship To have clean-playing teams, teams that are notorious, has become a Penn State tradition Behind that tradition is the ideal cherished by the undergraduate body, in dividuall), of es.celling in athletics, of being good sports Conch Leonard is reorganizing lacrosse in an attempt to make it the game of skill, science and courage which he has outlined in the articles appearing under his name in the COLLEGIAN. In this re organization Coach Leonard needs men Several days ago he called out candidates for the lacrosse squad, appro imately twenty-five re ported for practice—about two full teams Few special attributes are required of the prospective lacrosse player he can be short or tall, he need 'be fleet of foot only to the e•tent of being able to run a hun dred yards in thirteen seconds, he must have courage and a will to stand by the game Coach Leonard will give no preference to athletes in other sports. he promises equal consideration foi every man who comes out on the field Here is a lacrosse squad that should be doubled in numbers. Here is a lacrosse coach who says, in effect, "with enough men inter ested and willing to saclike a few idle hours for the good of the game, Penn State will have a real Incresse team this year." Can the student body say anything else except, "Here are the men'," Thoughts of Others 1 111:110 IN 011S1111' Al ' COMMIS: (THE F0111:11) vie Ifia into 1,10,1 so pi evalent I al- out Whet Anna it in Is Of It] oi ing ttthur.
