It has been estimated that fn e thousand dollars will he needed to carry on the work of the local chaplet of the Y C A this year, The money that is raised during the campaign will be de\ oted to "Y" protects at Penn State and for mnsicn work in the South and incrseas, Phis does not mean, however, that the organization 'ill neglect, to any extent, its work here at the College The winter entertainment course, the free Saturday night movies, the publication of the fresh man handbook, the maintenance of an employment bureau, the free weekly entertainments,—these are but a few of the many projects that have been carried on by the "Y" in years past and for which some of the proceeds will be allotted again this tear As an organization functioning, under student supervision and management, the Y fd C A is rightfully classed as a student enter prise Controlled by a student cabinet, w h ich is elected) annually, the "Y" is reprasentaa‘e of me campus and is duly recognized by the College TFc three dollar pledge asked of each student is not too great a sacrifice for such a cause The YOI C A alwats takes an acme interest in solving the problems that confront the Penn State man and is therefore interested to the betterment of the College Penn State students need the "Y" and it needs student support. Lets keep both alive by subscribing MORE TRAFFIC REGULATIONS When the throngs or students troop out of Liberal Arts and Old ➢lain between classes. toe congestion is great on the walks leading tr.= these buildings In fact. it r. ould only take the addition of a Lew hurts tog Ychicles and an authoritame trallic cop to give the hbrai y corner a resemblance to 13 , 0 ad and Chestnut Streets in Phila delphia This congestion of the campus s. albs was brought to the atten tion of Student Council last week and the members of this body were asked to give the subject their thcught and consideration Varioes plays were suggested but definite oction wes deferred until a later meeting As usual in a problem of this diameter, the lowly freshmen were the first to become the subject of reform There is an unwiitten eastern that members of the }carling eass shall not walk more than two abreast on the cvmpus and that they shall give way to the three uppercPtsses at all times Violations of this custom probably con ti ibute as much as any ether factor to the congestion around Old Main and Liberal Arts The obvious conclusion is toot upperelass. mon should emoice this regulation Various solutions to the problem were suggested at the meeting of Student Council One plan would make the freshmen ;a the Allen street drucway leading up from Co-op to Old Main tad lab , ral Arts Such an moos anon would automatically eliminate the tmuority nt the violations of the two-abreast custom A second sugg.:; meriting consideration, would compel the lust year men to use the basement entrance to the Liberal Arts building Another plan would t checo the congestion by ordering the yearlings to walk to 0 single file until they are a reasonable distance From the principle buildings, From these various suggestions Student Council will shortly at tempt to devise some means of relieving the congestion. ,Whatever the nature of the ordinance, the student body should cooperate in making it ensconce Certainly it deserves mote support than has been given to the enforcement of thecustom m fegard to freshmen ,walking two abreast THE TEAM Penn State has made a strong showing on the gridiron so far this year and indications point to still further triumphs for the Nit rimy Lion One custom that found unusual favor among the student body in the past was the foott,ll mass meetings on the eve of the contest or before the team left rot foreign fields, This year, how. cver, there have been no demonstrations of this nature but still there has been that characteristic cooperation between team and stu.! dents which helps so greatly when spirits are low Tomorrow night the custom will be renewed and Penn State's undergraduates will gather to give the team a rousing sendoff The strength of the Nittany eleven will be tested to its breaking point no\ t Saturday and without the support of the student body Now is the time to lend moral support. Let every undergraduate come out tomorrow night and show the team that it is appreciated. COL. Why, A few years ago the hair was a nuisance to almost everyone, for it was usually the least attractive part os the appearance always unkempt and unsightly an hour after being combed There was no way, then, to keep it from being so Old-fashioned pomades only matted it and made it greasy. Water evaporated quickly and left it drier and more unruly than et cr. Today everyone can have smooth, neatly combed hair Now Stacomb—a delicate, invis ible cream for keeping the hair in place has changed all that It is responsible for the amazingly improved appearance of men's hair And it has made possible for every ‘vornan, however "difficult" her hair, the new smooth effect so much in vogue In clubs and fraternities, at the theatre or the game, today you can , s/7 z a k lf. *TO I .). ~ t ryg_ 4o . „Er..
