C Some ninety odd mitts of the Resame Officers' Training Corps in the colleges and universities cf tne United States are this year big ger al c It CN cr before The War Depaitment, in cooperation with t' cot ct,cu, has made this possible The Penn State unit has been made more comprehensic e by the vdchtion of a larger staff of tnstructms, mere hi ancncs of service and a general and thorough method of procedure But Penn State's unit of the R 0 T C needs men, Numerous calls have already been made For Juniors and seniors who desire to continue wall the advanced courses in Military Science and Tactics In additien to the increase in the instructing personnel, the Penn State salt has bean enlarged by the addition of an Engineers' Unit, a branch long desired SI the authorwes Heretofore the toought of purchasing a uniform was a great di awback to some students The War Department has eliminated this obstacle, however, and new oilers free uniforms to men who sign up for the two-rears course in their junior year Alter the comple tion of the course the uniform automatically becomes the property of the man to whom it was issued Added incenmes to inen who contemplate joining the Penn State unit arc c I fend in the mount six weeks' encampment at Camp Meade, Allmland, and the remaneration which is forthcoming to every man who takes up this work The summer camp, is conducted tinder conditions similar to actual army lan and every effort is made to place the student in a wholesome, entertaining and instructive at mosphere The benefits to he derived from the experience are many. In addition to this the student officer receives approximately two hundred and tweney-five dollars wnile enrolled in the R. 0 T. C course With the changes and additicns to the Penn State unit, every op portunity is given the student to develop along practical lines. The Engineers' Unit is especially applicable to undergraduates enrolled in the School of Engineering as it offers practical training in con nection with instruction received in the class rcom. The Military Department still desires more men for the advanced courses.
