It is planned to hold meetings of the students next Thursday morning in order to explain fully the meaning of the health and wel fare project and to point out the way the most good can be accom plished. The students are supposed to gather at the designated places at 11.30 a m Thursday morning forming a miniature mass meeting that will be presided over by some senior A member of the faculty and one fully acquainted with the aims of the college will speak on the subject of the corning campaign. There are two phases that stand out strikingly and those merit consideration by each one. First, the college does not expect linen cial support from the students at the present time and will by no means ask the students to sign a pledge or agree to pay any sum to ward the campaign. The meeting is solely for the purpose of ex plaining the drive and what it will mean to the college, to point out the way in which the students can lend material assistance, to suggest the use of vacations and all recesses as a time to spread propaganda throughout the state on the needs of Penn State and what the insti tution represents, to ask the cooperation of each student in the com ing campaign. No doubt exists as to the stand of the students on this matter, but the main difficulty rises from the condition that it is no easy task to get a large group to fall enthusiastically into line. The second phase is concerned with the Thursday morning meet ings and the attitude that the student body will assume at this time. Classes have been dismissed by the faculty for the last hour on this morning \in order that no one will have an excuse to absent himself from the meetings. The only way to put the idea across is to have each student show his interest and to put his shoulder to the wheel and shove. It can not be disputed that everyone should be present at the meeting to which he has been assigned. It is indeed a poorly spirited student who neglects to lend his support to this, the biggest undertaking that Penn State has ever undertaken The two million dollars is to be used in the erection of buildings to be devoted solely for recreational and welfare purposes It is hard to conceive at greater ungratitude than the action of any student who refuses to concern himself with the affairs of his Alma Mater The wheel has been running in an ever deepening rut for a long time and there is only one way to get out of the rut and drive on that broad thorough fare that leads to a great university. Everyone lean his shoulder to the wheel and shove for Penn State. The Seniors Have Done It At the last meeting of the Senior class, it was announced that their bond issue had been successfully started and that the class had made its pledge to the college. The outgoing men deserve the warmest thanks for what they have done for the college. The custom that was established many years ago to the effect that each Senior class raise in some manner a sum of money to be turned over to the college has been meeting with success since its inauguration but it remained for the class of 1922 to sponsor what is apparently the most successful of all. The amount of money that was subscribed at the first meeting bears convincing testimony to the loyalty of the Seniors and is a monument of which they may be proud. The class should be commended for selecting a type of payment whereby the college receives the maximum benefit and also for the support that was given the selection. Incidents of this nature make us glad that we are members of the great Penn State family. Sen iors! Penn State thanks you.
