The cadets of the lowa State col lege will be required to attend the summer camp for six days during Commencement week. During this time the corps will be under strict military discipline and will receive a thorough and practical course of in struction in all camp duties, field maneuvers, and military regulations, This is an entiely new feature;of the military department. 1 42 Allegheny college was recently visited by fire, causing $25,000 damage. The Alden Hall of Chem istry was completely destroyed as as well as all the valuable chemical apparatus. A charter day celebration will be held on February 26, at the Uni versity of Pittsburgh. The celebra tion will mark the 128th anniversary of the founding of the University which was the first institution of learning to be founded west of the Alleghenies. The foreign enrollment at the University of Pennsylvania for 1914-15 is 25 % less than for 1913-14. The decrease is attribut ed to the war conditions prevailing in most of the foreign countries at the present time. Omitting the summer session, the University of Pittsburg, with an in crease of 1,069 students over the registration of the fall term of 1913, made the largest gain of any of the universities of the United States. Dr. Hinitt, the new head) of Washington and Jefferson, has ar ranged to give a lecture to the members of the freshmen [class each week. Gold souvenir footballs were recently awarded to the members of the 1915 football team who won their “C" at Carnegie Tech. A blue enameled “C” is directly above the laces of each ball and the name and position of the owner is inscribed below. “Mike” Dorizas, the noted Greek athlete of the University of Penn sylvania, addressed the students of Ursinus last week under the auspices of the Y. M. C. A. The Y. M. C. A. of Franklin and Mar shall have also arranged to have Dorizas speak at that institution in the near future. The Athletic Association of the Michigan Agricultural college has voted to flood the drill ground, so that hockey can be indulged in dur ing the winter. A subscription list has been opened at Susquehanna university for bigger and better Y. M. C. A. club rooms to replace the present rooms which are insufficient for the needs of the students. In an open letter to the Board of Trustees, the last issue of the Muhlenburg Weekly, discussed the necessity of bringing that body into closer touch with the students of Muhlenburg. The Trustees are ask ed to visit the college whenever possible, in order to become better acquainted with the present day conditions.
