In "The Lafayette” we find the following article on Traditions: “College traditions are produc tive of much amusement among non-college men. The idea of a senior devoting many weeks to the raising of a young and tender mus tache in order that he may be dis tinguished from the lower classmen is very amusing to the practical, self-educated business man. The blowing of horns and the ringing of cow bells when unescorted girls venture upon the campus is the subject of merriment among the townspeople. Such customs fre quently meet with severe cricicism on the part of the unitiated. But traditions and customs have their place in a college. They are the expression of the individuality of an institution. From a study of the traditions of a college much can be learned about the student body. The presence or absence of principles of honor, the prevalence of-democracy or snobbery, the pos session or lack of a sense of humor—these and many other de ductions can be made from a study of traditions. A college is judged largely by the customs of its under graduates. From time to time new customs and new traditions become SHE PENN ’STATE COLLEGIA^ Gilliland’s Drug Store Quality of Service is what we give you at our Sanitary Foun tain.
