No student shall be publicly dismissed without the consent of the President of the College. Sec V_Any vacancy occurring in this council shall be filled within two weeks after such vacancy shall occur, and in the same manner in which the :Ewe was previously filled. Sec. VI. Any member of this council may be expelled from this council by a vote of two-thirds of the members, fOr , misconduct or neglect of duties. Sec. VII. The council shall have authority on eligiblity, of Contest ants in all class contests. Sec. VIII: The council shall have authority to regulate the time of all c'ass contests. Sec. IX. All actions of the council shall be final except in ases relat ing to college customs, in which case must be approved by the majority of the members present at a meeting of the two upper classes. Y., will lec ture before the Engineering Society of the School of Mines, Wednesday Evening March 8, 1911. The lec ture will be on mine fires and meth ods of fighting them, 'and will be, illustrated. Dean W. R. Crane, of the School of IVlines, will spend the greater part of the two weeks, beginning Monday Mch, 6, giving a series of lectures throughout the bituminous coal mining field. The subject of his lecture will be Mines gases and their relations to Mine fires and Mine explosions. Lectures will be given as follows; Mch 6, Monongahela City; 7, Char leroi, 8, Fayette City; 9, Brownsvil le, 10, Uniontown, 11, Scottdalc; 13, South Fork; 14, Portage; 15, Windber. Engine Tests On Thursday and Friday of 'last week an acceptance test was made on two high speed steam engines, manufactured by the Valley Iron works, of Williamsport The main points brought out in the trial were the water rate at various loads, the maximum capacity, the engine suction, and the speed regulation. The engines were tested for the U. S. government and the interests of the government were looked after by Mr P. M. Anderson, Electrical and Mecha'nical Engineer, of the department of the quarter-master general, Washington D. C. Professors Harding and Gill, assisted by Professor Calderwood and Messi , •.
