Cuuttnued front unoe 1 ended and the Gold and Blue was the victor over ,the Blue and White for the third time in thu teen games. Last Thursday's battle was well fought and one of the most specta cular ever seen on a gridiron. The work of "Dad" Engle on the offense and of Captain Gray, John son, Brown and, Weaver on ,the defense was espedially good. Work man, Keller, Goedecke and Wil son all handled themselves well when they got into the game. At its conclusion the usual reunion of State men took place at the Fort Pitt Hotel and discussed the ques tion as to who "really" had won the game. PENN STATE 0 U OF PITTSBURG U. PioHet Wilson, 1 e. SOMETHING LACKING. Penn State Spirit Was at a Rather Low Ebb on Thanksgiving Day. Let's get,Together, Felloin. , "For the first time in history, the Penn State spirit' seemed to be lack ing. Despite the frenzied appeals of the two hard working cheer lead ers, the student body of the Center County institution refused em platically to warm up; nothing but half-hearted responses being forti - coming to the demands for 'a good one this time, fellows l' Time atter time did the afore-said cneer leaders beseech the State adherents to 'come strong' but each time the re sponse was half-hearted and dis pirhgd." —Pittsburg "Dispatch", Nov. 15, 1910, Our contemporary has exaggerat ed a whole lot in his above state ment, yet our 300 "students" did not produce the goods as they should have at the recent Pitt game. "Gene" Carson and "FUnny" Ful necky found themselves leading a section of rooters, of which at least half were of the fairer sex—not co eds either. No one but students or alumni should have been in section 1. at Forbes Field last Thursday and the students who got rid of their tickets to girls were far trom show ing the "Penn State" spirit, especial ly in the first ten or fifteen rows, where a solid contingent of sturdy voiced Blue-and-white shouters should have held forth. The Pitt game is by .far the best financial game of the season for us and it is annually attended by more State alumni than any other contest In order to win next year from the Pittsburghers we must have our section filled up with studes and a vacation from Thursday over Sun day would help a, whole lot. The Western Pennsylvanians are becom ing stronger and stronger each year and in order to keep up our big per centage of victories in the past, we must send out a loyal throng of from 600 to 1000 men from Penn State in the coming years. Let uq have no repetition of an event con cerning which it could even be hint ect that the "Penn State spirit " is dying out and above all let no such hint emanate horn Pittsburg. And let the rooting section be filled wil' rooters in the future CALENDAR. I lIIDAY, 7:1) r). m. Interclass Basketball Game, 1911 vs. 1913. Armory. ATURDAY, DEC. 8. 8: 1 5 p. m Y. M. C. A.
