LECTURE ON CHINA

The popularity which , the free'
leCture course attained last year has
'b'y no means diminis'hed as could
be seen by the large crowd 'that'
turned out Saturday night to,hear
Dr; 'Edmunds give his free illus
trated lecture on "China of Td-da'y"".
Although Dr. Edmunds is keenly
in'teWested in the Canton Cbristain
college he gave the audience a
clearer conception of the progress
made by the entire Chinese Empire
in religion, education, politics and
morals. , There ,has been a gradual
uplift going on in all of these im
portant affairs that are necessary for
the making of a strong nation into
*Web. China is bound to develop
before many yeats. ,

of America, His subject will be
"Flight" and will tie illustrated with
pictures of ancient and modern
types of ' flying machines. • Mr.-
Richardson comes from the Uni
versity of Pennsylvania. It is
hoped to organize a•local branch of
the association. ,Nearly every
prominent college and univetsity is
now represented and. Penn State
should not lag behind in the very
latest fad.

At a meeting of the Council of
Administration held Monday, the
request of manager Cuthbert with
reference to leave of absence for
students wishing to attend the Penn
sylvania game was taken up and it
was voted that a student desiring
to attend the Pcnnsyhania game
may register with his dean or ad
visor in advance for abs'eace from

A nuptial event in which two
very estimable and worthy young
persons were the contracting parties

street, Wednesday morning at 10
o'clock, when' Mr James William
Loose; of Chicago:son of Mr. and
Mis; $. H. L6ose, of Ho2estown,
Pa., and Miss Lucy Ann Wood,,
daughter of Mr, and Mrs. Jefferson
Q. Wood, of South Lafayette Street,
were made husband and wife in the
presence of fifty relatives and irri 7
mediate friends., 'The ring cene
mony was used and the officiating
minister was the Rev. C. H. Brown,
the Methodist pastor of Kokomo, ,
Pent. ' ' ' -
The east wing of the parlor v.as'
the scene of the ceremony and it
was very beautifully adorned with a
bank of golden glow, lace plant and
a quantity of vines and cut flowers
Mrs. C H. Brown, of Kokomo,
wife of the officiating minister v.ho
was such a favorite soloist in. the
Methodist chinch While she lived
here years ago presided at the piano
and 4 played ~Lohengrin's, wedding
march during the procession to the
alter. The groom was accompanied
by the minister, and the bride came
in on the arm of her father.
The bride wore a charming gown
of golden brown foulard trimmed
with hand made lace• and he car
tied a beautiful bouquet of swain-'

somas.
At the conclusion of the 'cere
many Mrs Brown very sweetly
sang a selectior, by a French ,
author entitled "Jiletause," aftet
which Mi. and Mrs Loose were in-;
troduced to, the company whit h
showered them mirth best, wishes and
congiatulations
