P.%(;F: SIX OPEN AIR MASS MEETING A Thousaud Students Assembled in Front of the Auditorium to Wit ness Awarding of Varsity "S". The extremely warm weather last Monday bight opened the way for the permanent _establishment of spring and fall open air mass meet ings. At least two thirds of the en tire student body located themselves comfortably on the Auditorium steps and the surrounding grass to par ticipate in one of the most interest ing and sueCessful meetings ever held on State's campus President D. K. Sloan formally opened the session with a discussion of the new form of awarding the "S" to varsity men and, the plan, which was unique and appropriate, was accord ed splendid applause Following this speech, Professor I Agee spoke of "winning teams" and highly complimented the football and basketball teams of 1910. The next speaker Hugh S. Taylor, who' has-the distinction of being the first State man that crossed Penn's goal line, dwelt torcibly ion the changes that have brought, about better conditions for State and laud ed the spirit of our College in such terms as to indelibly stamp t em on the minds of all those who ad the pleasure bf hearing ,his talk.
