For further information address THE REGISTRAR, State College, Pennsylvania A Notable Gift to the Library, In response to representations made by the College Librarian, the French Minister of Public Instruc tion and Fine Arts has forwarded the following volumes: First, Inventaire general des rechesses d'art de la France Second, Collections de documents inedite stir l'historie de France. Third, Catalogue general des livres imprimes de la Bibliotheque Nationale. The first work will interest lovers of art, and twenty volumes of the series have appeared. The second set is an exceedingly valuable one for historical research. It is still in course of issue, although sixty-four volumes have already been printed. The third set comprises one of the great bibliographical undertak ings of the century, a general cata logue of the printed books in the National Library of France, the largest library in the world, and containing over two million, six hundred thousand volumes. Thirty two volumes of the catalogue have been issued, and two or more per year will follow during the next twenty years. The Library is ex ceedingly fortunate in this donation. COLLEGE NOTES. The Men's Literary Club donated $lOO to the college as part of the proceeds of the Ben Greet plays; the money will be used to make an addition to the fire apparatus of the college. The War Department also notifies the college that the inspecting officer this year of the military de partments of the educational institu• tions named in the official notifica- tion will be Captain Michae Lenihan, of the General Staff. C. W. Smith. who has been in charge of the branch store of Mont gomery & Co.. at the college, ac quired the store last week and will hereafter be proprietor. A. M. Myers 'OB has resigned his position as engineer for the Nit tany Light Heat and Power com pany and is now in Pittsburg. His place has been taken by W. H. Brown 'OB. As noted in another column, the speaker at Sunday's chapel service will be Rev. Robert Davis, associate pastor of the Brick Presbyterian church, New York City. He will also sneak to the seniors at 10 o'clock and to an all-college meet ing at 6.15. Word has been received at the President's Office from the War Department, Washington, D. C., that the Commandant of Cadets, Captain William H. Hay, 10th Cavalry, has been designated as a captain of the respective Army teams to be entered in the National Team Match to be held in connec tion with the National Match for 1909. ALUMNI. J. B.
