A stag preceded the ban- Ray Moffitt proved a very able toastmaster, and kept everybody in good spirits. The first speaker was Harry Bubb, "Prexie," who toasted "Our Class," and was cheesed to the echo. Dale Mason reviewed "Athletics," and during the course of the speech, brought out Penn State's fine record of two games won to every one lost in the last fifteen yews. Fulnecky gave a characteristic spiel on "Hot Air." Kershaw exposed some of the most stliking eccentricities and habits of the Faculty, singly and collectively. Arthur toasted the queens, giving a very wise and sophisticated view ( f "The Eternal Feminine." fhen Jim Torrance closed the scheduled toasts with a loyal toast to "Penn State" which was received with much applause and cheering. Im promptus were given by M. Smith, Watson, Milhollanci, Forsythe, and Knapper. The banquet in general brought out the spirit of good fellowship and sticking together that is charac teristic of sophomores, and all those who were present enjoyed them selves to the utmost. M. 0. It is claimed for the furnace that for steam gener• ating and ore coasting the same effi ciency can be obtained from lignite as from bituminous coal, and that very satisfactory results are secured in preventing smoke. TUE STATE COLLEGIAN Power Plant Still Disabled. The new De Laval turbo genera tor for the college plant was expect ed to be shipped on March 12. A week will probably be required for shipment and four or five days for putting the machine in place. It will therefore be seen that the pres ent plant, disabled as it is, must con tinue for several days to furnish power tor the college. The Willans engine is entirely olzt of commission, and the whole load is being carried by the old Edison bipolar machine and one of the small experimental alternators. When the new De Laval engine is in place and the Willans engine re paired, both will be taxed to their full capacity to provide for the or dinary needs of the college, and no allowance will be made for a possi ble break-down. The bill now be fore the legislature includes an item for a 500 K. W. machine which will provide duplication for the plant, and will allow experimental work. Interclass Baseball Schedule April games.
