THURSDAY, OC r. 8, 1908 EDITORIAL. An excellent idea, and one which many college men are carrying out, is to keep all of the college papers published during the four years, and have them bound either in one or two volumes as a record of the events of that time. Not only is the cost comparatively slight, but such a volume will in years to come be considered of inestimable value. - All of the issues of this year have been sent to each student with this thought in mind. If any papers have been missed, they may be ob- tained on application to the manager. A few of last year's files still re main, and will be supplied to any one desiring to complete his files. It may be taken as a fairly safe rule that the interest taken by the local business men in the welfare of the students may be judged by the THE STATE COLLEGIAN way in which they advertise in the student publications. We would urge upon all State men the impor• tance of patronizing our advertisers. It would be impossible without their support to publish the paper. and we ask you to show your apprecia tion of this support by buying what you need from the men whose ad vertisements are found in the columns of this paper. We wish to commend the plan adopted by those in charge of the Y. M. C. A. entertainment course, which is described in another column. In previous years only a comparatively small number of sea son tickets have been sold, although the attendance at the entertainments was good• This year the price of the course has been placed so low that every man should plan to enjoy all of the entertainments, and we be lieve that there will be nothing but satisfaction, since the course is the most expensive and without doubt the best ever secured for the College. Free Lecture Course Continued. The Board of Trustees has voted the sum of $2OO to be added to the surplus of $144 left from the sub scription fund of last year for the free lecture course. With this total sum it is proposed to secure not more than four or five lectures, the dates to be scattered through the year. It is hoped to secure desira ble men when they chance to be in the vicinity of the College and therefore no permanent list of speakers will be announced in ad vance. The lectures and subjects will be advertised on the campus and in the village a few days in ad vance of the time of the lecture. It is hoped to have most of the lectures illustrated and on topics which will appeal to the entire body of 'stu dents. The admission will be free according to the custom instituted last year. So far as possible, dates will be selected which will not in terfere with the regular course of fered by the Y. M. C. A. CALENDAR. In order that the Calendar may be made as complete as possible, all College organiza tions are urged to hand in notices of meet ings. THURSDAY. OCT. 8 7.30 p. m.
