A Famous State Graduate. The current number of the Review of Reviews contains an interes;ing account of the life work ot one ot State's most famous graduates. Under the title "A Yankee Engineer on Five Continents" an illustrated article deals with the world wide activities of Mr. James Gilbert White. With headquarters in New York, Mr. White directs the operations of a chain of companies in Europe, Asia Australia, North and South America. These concerns have de signed and constructed many of the most important engineering worl=s in recent years and now have vast contracts in nearly every country in the world. The remarxable success of these enterprises is due in large measure to the brilliant genius of Mr. White. He graduated from State in 1882 from the c:assical course, afterward doing one year's work in civil en-. giueering. Then following a year of electrical work at Lehigh and postgraduate studies at Cornell. Al though only forty five years of age, Mr. White has already achieved un usual distinction and accomplished much brilliant work. A further ac count of his life may be found in the 1908 La Vie. The Italian Boys On Saturday evening the Y. M. C.. A. course was opened by the "Italian Boys" and Elbert Foland. If the remaining entertainments booked for this year are to be judged by this opening concert, every man in college would do well to patronize them. Mr. Antonio Schillace displayed wonlerful technique on the flute, and the harp in the hands of Mr. W. T. DUNN THE STATE COLLEGIAN Joseph Pesce was well received The crowning feature of the even ing, however, was the original character sketching by Elbert Po land. The gossiping, pessimistic old women seemed to be his special ty and the way he brought down the house with these impersonations testified to the success of his work.
