Villanova Defeated In the most brilliant fielding game witnessed on Beaver Field in many years the Varsity nine decisively downed the strong Villanova team last Thursday afternoon. Peloquin, the visitors' star pitcher, was pitted against Bob Vorhis, and the latter's work shone resplendent from start to finish, Villanova being fortunate to scpie at all. The work done by State s i.Jfield was wonderful, the stops ri•ui throws by Mason, Cree, Crutch .:/, and Hu shman again and again dia ving forth well deserved appla use. ahe battle opened like a pitcher's contest, both sides going out in or der for two innings, but in the latter half of the thud round Feiguscn opened proceedings witn a fast single down the left line and Bob Vorhi, followed with a double to lett center. Both runners scored on Cree's bingle over second, and "Birdie" stole second, to score a moment later on Mason's bunt down the first line, which blossomed into a hit. These three runs practically won for State bec ,use of Villanova's fa,luie to locate the effective shoots and benders served up by Bob Vorhis. Good batting en tbied the team to score seven more runs during the remain ing innings. The entire game was played through in errorless fashion by State's nine. To the good work of the infielders were added sensa tiJnai melding stunts byCoulson, Mc- Cleary, and Larry Vorhis. It was a beautiful game throughout.
