St. John’s College Defeated The varsity defeated the St. John’s College nine on their first ap pearance upon Beaver Field, and al though the score was rather one sided, the Maryland collegians fought hard at all stages. This decisive victory is the more pleasing because of the'fact that St John’s defeated our team last year in theii opening game of the season at Annapolis. In the recent game Saltry pitched well for the visitors, but State’s bat ters swung the ash when hits meant runs, while St. John's infield proved a bit unsteady. Lynch for the varsity pi.ched good ball tor six innings al'c.\ing but iwo hits, while the visitors were very lucky to get their only two runs in the seventh. The score: — PENN STATE Cree. ss ...
