WEDNESDAY, FEB. 27. 6.30 P.M. Electrical Engineering Society 8.00 P. M. 206 Main Natural History Club, The Basketball Trip. In the most disastrous trip that any State varsity has taken for many years, the basketball team lost all six of the games played on the eastern trip. All these contests proved hard-fought and interesting, but in every case the home five proved too strong towards the close of the battle. This trip was an ex tremely difficult one all the way, and with an entirely new line-up our team could not be expected to work perfectly, although nobody figured that all six games would be lost. No college team in the country could have taken this week’s trip and won every game, because it must be kept in mind that each of the six opponents met by State’s five is a “top-notcher” in intercollegiate basketball. The squad left here Monday after the toughest sort of a struggle with New York University on the Saturday night previous; and it is very natural that playing night after night on small foreign floors, our men became bruised and tired out., In every instance the team played splendid ball during the first half, only to fall down badly on the second period. This is not typical of State’s varsity teams, which have become noted as the very strongest of finishers, and can be accounted for by only two facts, our team is light and needs coaching.’ Every man is game to the finish, but against far heavier and more expe rienced opponents a victory is a difficult attainment. However, we still possess unlimited confidence in the players, for they proved them selves real State men in being good losers; and we predict that from now on they will have an unbroken string of victories. Here are the scores for last week’s'trip. THE STATE COLLEGIAN Feb. 11, at Harrisburg. Harrisburg A. C. 4o STATE £9 Hull, Smith forward Poss Tr- >rr forward ....He' Cockili . Johnson Smith, Hill. In no less than three of these six games —Le- high, Harrisburg, and Fordham, did State’s five lead at the end of the first half. The re-exams will be held on the second and ninth of March.
