Campbell got the ball on a fumble just as the whistle blew, on West Virginia's 40 yard line. Second half:—McCleary kicked off to the line, Kenna getting 15 on the time-honored criss-cross. Ernst made 2, but Burns' tackle sent Reynolds back a yard, and Kenna punted 35 yards. Henry regained 25 in a superb dash through a broken field; Hirshman 4, McCleary 5 yards for State on offside play, Mc- Cleary 2, Henry 10, McCleary made no gain at end, Hirshman made 2, Cyphers 6, and it was West Virginia's ball on downs by one-half foot on their own 1 foot line. Kenna punted 40 yards from behind his own line, Henry sprinted back 15; McCleary gained 2, Hirsh man 2, then Vorhis' attempt at field goal from the 30 yard mark went wide. Kenna kicked out from the 25 yard line, Henry rushed back 3, Maxwell 3, Burns 2, and on Mc- Cleary's 40 yard punt it was State's ball, because Hinman held Burns. On the next play, a forward pass, the visitors again secured the ball. Leahy lost a yard on a double tackle by Burns and Hirshman; Ernst made 1; Kenna punted 40, Henry came back 10, McCleary 2. McCleary punted 40, Burns tack ling; Ernst made 2, Leahy lost on Maxwell's tackle, and then Cyphers blocked Kenna's punt, Hirshman falling on the ball, a splendid play. Henry gained 3, Hirshman 3, Burns 14 on forward pass, and Wray went over the visitors' line in a fierce 5 yard plunge. Score, State 10, West Virginia O. The goal was again missed by a small margin. Kenna's kick-off to McCleary came back 25 yards, then McCleary gained 42 and Maxwell downed Reynolds on the spot; McWilliams gained 1, Burns 9 on a forward pass. Hirshman made 2, Burns 6 at the visitors' left end, one of the prettiest plays of the game. Kenna punted 50, Vorhis failing to gain, and then West Virginia se cured the oval on a forward pass. Leahy lost 3 on Kunkle's cackle, and Kenna punted 45 out of bounds. McCleary punted 35, and Hinman made 25 yards on a forward pass, the visitors' only substantial gain during the game. After several in effectual attempts by both sides to gain, the game ended with the ball on the visitors' 45 yard line. The West Virginians have a fast, gritty eleven, and they have our best wishes for a victory over W. &J. on Thanksgiving Day. Civil Engineering Society On Wednesday evening of last week the Civil Engineering Society held the first regular meeting of the year. There was a good attendance, and from the interest shown, the re organized society will no doubt be a success. The general subject of "Railroads" was the topic for discussion, and Prof. Shattuck, C. C. Cassel, J. E. Root and R. W. Krise gave short talks relating to various parts of railroad engineering. The meeting was concluded by a speech from Prof. Walker.
