Government Orchard Demon- strators at State. There are at present some twenty two men with us for a few days re ceiving special instruction in the treatment of the great orchard kill er,—The San Jose’ Scale Insect. As we look over these gentlemen we note some with the true fatherly appearance, and it is a fact that one or two of them have had sons graduate from the regular courses here, at our college. These gentlemen have been ap pointed to do special field work and to give demonstrations under the direction of the Economic Zoologist of Penna., our Prof. Surface. With the instruction received from him and Prof. Butz here at State they should go forth to their appointed counties with a good knowledge of the work they are expected to do. If .they do this they will be the means of saving many thousands of dollars worth of orchards and their products each year to this great commonwealth. We trust they will imbibe and take with them something of. the live spirit of the men under whom they are here studying. Most of the men are quartered in the dormi tory annex. H. D.
