Phar. D MEEK, STORE DRUG COLLEGE ORBIT An article of recent publication made the statement that Franklin and Marshall and Ursinus Colleges may be merged into a single institu tion in the near future. Both col leges are under the control of the Reformed church and it is believed by the officials of this body that a single college, such as would be cre ated by the merger, would be pro ductive of far greater good than the two small colleges now accomplish in such close proximity to each other. The consolidation will not likely take place for a few years but the final proposition is to locate the' united college at Lancaster, the present lo cation of Franklin and Marshall. In that event the buildings now used by Ursinus college will be turned over to the Allentown College for Wom en. —Orange and Blue. A great western oratorical league has been formed, composed of the following institutions: Michigan, Chicago, lowa, Wisconsin, Minne sota, Northwestern, and Oberlin. The first series of declamations will be given next spring at Evanston, 111. Souvenir postal cards will get to their destination much more quickly if accompanied by a one cent stamp. THE STATE COLLEGIAN We are still making a specialty of the finest School and Col= lege Stationery, also Paul E. Wirt, Parker and Laughlin Fountain Pens. Delicious Soda Water and Choice Cigars. The Thespians, the college dra matic organization, will make their first appearance of the year in the Auditorium on Saturday evening Feb. 25 in “The Boomerang,” writ ten by the late Augustin Daly. The performance was scheduled to take place on Friday the 24th, but as this is the night before the “re-exams, ” it was changed to the following evening. It is hoped that a large audience will be present on this oc casion to take advantage of this op portunity to give the boys a good send off. The play cannot be called a “roaring farce ” but it is a first class comedy. The parts are all well taken and as the play abounds in funny situations and startling climaxes, it goes without saying that the performance will be worth wit nessing. Manager MacDowell has secured Mrs. Hurley of Buffalo, an actress of thirty-seven years experi ence, to train the members of the cast in their respective parts and she has already accomplished wonders in giving style and finish to the rendi tion of the characters. The management has encountered more than the ordinary number of trials and tribulations, but they have persevered in spite of them all, and have at last secured a cast and a play which will uphold in every re spect the high standard set by pre vious performances of the organiza tion. Turn out and give the boys the “ glad hand. ’’ SPECIAL NOTICE I The Boomerang. P. B. MEEK MEEK BROS It will Pay You To buj your Dry Goods Notions, Shoes, Groceries, Etc., of us.
