A. wishes to thank the citizens and stu dents for their patronage. —The Electric Chloride Storage Battery Company of Philadelphia has 'recently presented the department of electtical engineering with a very fine exhibit of their manu factures. This exhibit will not only be valuable as an ,iiddition to the museum but will also be of great service in the lecture Fooni. —One very pleasant event of the Easter vacation was the Epworth League social at the home of Prof. Gill, Thurs day evening, March 27. About one hundred and fifty Leaguers and their friends were present and all received the royal welcome which Prof. Gill knows so well how to give. —The Friday Club held a meeting in room 20, Engineer ing Building on Friday evening, April 4th. Dr. George G. Groff, of Bucknell college, gave an illustrated talk on the subject' of P6rto Rico which was listened to with, marked interest and appreciation. After the lecture, the Club adjourned to the residence of Prof. Foster where a reception was tendered Dr. Groff. The refreshments were a fitting conclusion to a most instructive and enjoyable evening. —Edward Abram Uffington Valentine, a noted writer of ver.s,e, essays, and literary editor of the Baltimore Evening Nemis, is spending considerable time in our village; and now it: is reported that James Lane Allen, author of The Ken tucky Cardinal, A Summer in Arcady, The Choir Invisible, and several other works, is to join Mr. Valentine here in the near future.
