The Resignation of Miss McElwain. Prof. Adams has had actual experience in inter-collegiate debating and is especially assigned to take charge of debat ing work at State. That State College needs help along debating lines is self evident and with a specially selected teacher to take charge of this line of work we hope for success. Maurice J. Babb, Instructor in Mathematics, was a stu dent at Juniata College, from whence he entered West Chester State Normal School, graduating from this institu tion and also pursued post graduate work at the same place. Was a member of the class of 1896 at Haverford. Prof. Babb taught six years in public schools, two of which were spent as Principal of Morton High School and one year as Assistant Principal of the Dowingtown High School. Hater became Instructor at West Chester, Professor of Higher Mathematics at Williamsport Dickinson Seminary four years. Occupied a similar position at Bellefonte Acad emy one year. In 1901 resigned the Supervising Principal ship of Oxford School to come to State. THE RESIGNATION OF MISS McELWAIN. A few years ago when Dr. Colfelt handed in his resigna nation as preacher to the College, a thrill of disappointment passed through the minds of all concerned with the institu tion. We felt that his whole being was put into use for our benefit; and our appreciation was shown by the high esteem in which we held him. In this issue of the Lance we are again sorry to an nounce the lesignation of a person whose interest in the well-being of the students is not paralleled at this place. Miss McElwain, to whom we refer, was called to State Col lege in 1883 as instructor and lady principal and has since MAURICE J. BABB.
