At West Point and Annapolis dancing' is compulsory; al many of the State colleges and military schools weekly dances are held at which attendance is optional. Here at State we have a large armory, a good Cadet band, and many students who would like to learn to dance. Why can we not have military dances Saturday afternoons from 2:00 to 4:00? There is no need of reviewing the arguments for and against dancing. Were dancing not good exercise and train ing we are sure the government would not require it at its schools. Then too, were the students to dance Saturday afternoons, they would not feel like going out Saturday night and getting into mischief. Again, it is hard to be a “wall-flower,” and it takes a very clever and handsome man to be a success at it. Then too, the military dances would create a different feeling among the students as regards drill. This of itself would be recompense enough to the authorities. We sincerely hope that when we write our next editorial we may be able to thank the Faculty for having followed our suggestion along this line. In our last two numbers tlie Board of Bditors has tried to show the student body that The Bance is the mouthpiece of the student body. It is our intention to follow the course we have started and hope that we may recieve the hearty support and co-operation of all. The Hance now extends to all of its readers, its best wishes for a pleasant and profitable vacation. May you all return next year ready to begin work anew and help make the dance a success. sift
