State 15—Franklin and Marshall 7. May 10th, State and Franklin and Marshall met on Beaver Field. As F. and'M. had an unusually strong- team a close game was looked for, but, nevertheless, in the eight inning- contest State rolled up double the number of runs which F. and M. scored. The regular diamond was too muddy to play on, so a temporary diamond was laid out on the turf to one side of the field. Though the score would seem to show that the game was a one-sided affair, yet this could only be said of the last inning. At the end of the seventh inning the score stood six to seven, but after this the visitors seemed to lose their nerve, and they allowed State to score more runs in one inning than in the previous seven. The rain which fell during the eighth inning, and which stopped the game, was perhaps, in part responsible for F. and M’s collapse.
