STATE
ON the 24th of May, Dickinson met her third defeat in three
weeks at the hands of State. This time it was in the first
annual dual track and field meet between the two:institutions.
State's track team, consisting of Capt. Norman, Pollock, Gill,
Knox, Maxwell, Martin, Scholl, Cure, Bridge, Miles, Mott,
Trainer Buchholz, and Manager Affelder, left here on Tuesday
afternoon, and while they did not make any rash promises of
victory, the general belief was that they would win by a small
margin. Even the most hopeful supporters never anticipated
such a score as 67 to 37.
The day was a beautiful one and just such a day as would
stimulate each man to do his best. The blue and white sky
helped the eleven blue and white jerseys to offset the ever
prevailing red and white of Dickinson, but as the afternoon
progressed, an ever-increasing tinge of blue was noticed in the
midst of the Dickinsonians.
At two-thirty, with persistent determination to win, both teams
appeared upon the field. The program was opened by the 100
