TT IS an old saying that to attempt to correct the ideas or man ners' of one's elders is to show ill-breeding, yet even at the expense of being thought impolite we believe it our duty to per sist inlhaving our say, disagreeable as that say may be. To us it seems a most lamentable fact that in the admirably arranged courses at State there should be given any time to branches which can be of no use whatever to the student along his line of work, or, for that matter, along any lines of work. These branches are, fortunately, very few. Yet the fact that such do exist at all is sufficient cause for their removal. In the first place we would cite " Old English."
