The Athletic Association has levied an assessment of one dollar on the members to help defray the expenses of the general athletic The College was visited last week by a committee consisting of the Hon. Perry S. Gibson, of Erie county, and Col. J. C. Stein man, of Cambria county, appointed by the State Senate to inspect the College and to make a report of its condition. A special practicum schedule was arranged for them. This was followed by an address by Senator Gibson, in which he praised the College but censured the students for not advertising it sufficiently. The mock trial held by the literary society was a very pleasant and well-attended event. Those who were not present missed a great treat in not hearing “Judge ” Woods’ charge to the jury. The Agriculture Department has just received from Powell Bros., Shadeland, Crawford County, Pa., an imported Clydesdale stallion, “ Rantin Davy.’’ This horse is without doubt the finest specimen that was ever shown in this part of the State. The Electrical Heating Corporation, of Boston, have supplied the Electrical Department with three three-quarter liorse-power cook stoves, a one-horse-power broiler, a two-and-one-quarter horse-power oven, and two one-half horse-power flat-irons. Mr. Kelker, ’96, is making a test of this apparatus to determine the relative cost of electricity and coal for kitchen purposes. This will be the subject of his thesis for the advanced degree of E.
