.1896.] gave an enjoyable reception to their friends on Monday evening, June 15. The patronesses were: Mrs. John B. Robinson, Mrs. Geo. C. Butz, Mrs. W. T. Dorn, Mrs. H. H. Stoek, Mrs. Chas. B. Scott and Mrs. Win. Thompson. The class of '97 has adopted a very pretty class hat of the Alpine—Sugarloaf style. It is pearl gray, with a wide brim and a deep black band. A E entertained their friends at their chapter house on the evening of June 15. A large crowd, including many out of town guests, were present. The house was decorated with lanterns, and dancing was indulged in until a late hour. Manager McKinley has secured the following schedule of foot ball games for the coming season: Sept. 26, Gettysburg at State College. Oct. 3, Western University of Pennsylvania at State College. Oct. io, U. S. Naval Academy at Annapolis. Oct. 17, Dickinson College at State College. Oct. 24, Princeton University at Princeton. Oct. 31, Bucknell University at Williamsport. *Nov. 14, University of Pennsylvania at Philadelphia. Nov. 21, Washington and Jefferson College at State College. Nov. 28, Indians (Carlisle) at Williamsport. *Subject to change. COMMENCEMENT EXERCISES The exercises of commencement week opened with the Bac calaureate Sermon by the Rev. Russel Conwell, of Philadelphia, on Sunday, June 14th. His address was remarkably able and instructive and was enjoyed by the large crowd which was pre• sent. On Monday, June r6th, at 2 P. M. the interclass athletic con test took place. The class of '96 scored the most points, there by securing the '92 cup. A more detailed account will he found in another column. At 8 P.
