—The Washington Society has elected the fol lowing officers for the coming term : President, H. C. Peffer ; Vice-President, W. A. Harvey; Recording Secretary, W. A. Hutchinson ; Critic, Miss McClelland ; Treasurer, George E. Seibert; Editors, Hemphill and Stewart. —We take pleasure in being able to announce the approaching marriage of Prof. Stook to Miss Ricketts, of Wilkesbarre. The event is to take place in Wilkesbarre on Thursday, Dec. loth. Prof. Willard is to act as an usher. The students extend their congratulations to Prof. Stook. —The department of physics lately received a valuable dividing and comparing engine. It is a I)ery delicate instrument and is used for dividing scales and similar work, in which line it will be a great addition to the department. The instru ment was made by the Societe Genevoise, Geneva, Switzerland. —Thanksgiving passed very quietly at the col lege, the four days of vacation slipping rapidly by. Many boxes were demolished, but no fatali .ties occurred. A number of the students went to their homes to spend the time, and those living in the vicinity of Pittsburg took in our Thanks giving game with the Pittsburg Athletic Club. —The officers of the Press Bureau are C. S. Gingrich '96, president ; H. H. Allen '97, secre tary. The Bureau has had prepared a plate with cuts of the college buildings and appropriate de scription of the same, which will be sent to news papers wishing to use them. Students interested may receive information from the officers of the Bureau. —At a meeting of the Athletic Association, on Monday evening, the following officers and com mittees were elected for the ensuing year. B. F. Fisher '96, president; H. Stewart '96, vice-presi dent ; C. Rice '9B, secretary ; base ball committee, Suter '97, chairman; Beaver '95, Rice '9B, Green• land '96, and Brown '99. W. A. Stuart has been elected captain of the team, and the committee alected R, B. Greer, manager. THE FREE LANCE. —The usual Thanksgiving Assembly was held in the Armory on Friday evening, Isl.)v. 3oth. For several reasons the attendance was not as large as usual, but from a social point of view the dance was an acknowledged success. The music was rendered by Stopper & Fisk, of Williamsport, while a special train accommodated the guests from Bellefonte, —An article appeared in the Physical Review, for November—December, on "the thermal con ductivity of cast iron as a function of temperature." The experiments were made and the article writ ten by Geo. Kessler, who was last year pursuing postgraduate studies in this institution under the direction of Prof. Osmond. The article has also appeared in pamphlet form. —One of the social events of the winter oc curred on the evening of Dec. Bth. Miss Stuart gave an entertainment, at her home on College avenue, for Miss Cotton, of Ohio. The parlors were tastefully decorated and those assembled were entertained as only Miss Stuart can. Games were provided so that those not caring to dance could have an enjoyable evening, —At a meeting of the State College Scientific Association, Nov. 6th, the following officers were elected : Prof. Buckout, President ; Prof. Reber, First Vice• President ; Prof, Ihlseng, Second Vice- President ; Prof. Osmond, Third Vice-President; Prof. Frear, Secretary-Treasurer. A paper was read by Prof. Foss on "Graphic Constructions as Applied to the SolutiOn of Problems." —On account of the approaching holidays, agents of the Central R. R. of Pa., have been au thorized to sell, commencing Dec. i9th, low rate excursion tickets to local points and all stations on the Beech Creek R. R. These tickets will be on sale up to 'January Ist, good to return on or before January znd, 1895. On December 17th and 18th, special excursion tickets will be sold from local points to Bellefonte and Mill Hall on account of Teachers Institute at Lock Haven and Bellefonte.
