SMALL, '93 ; roc 11HE resignation of Mr. Walker, also, makes necessary the appointment of a new business manager. In behalf of the staff we wish to express our appreciation of Mr. Walk er's untiring and intelligent labor on the FREE LANCE. To Mr. Walker more than any one else belongs the credit for its im proved appearance and solid financial condi tion. Mr. Greenwood succeeds. Mr. Walker as business manager UNLESS more care be given than is shown at present by the Board of Marshals of the gymnasium, our new equipment will not last many years. It is impossible to keep the gymnasium even in fair condition and at the same time allow students, and quite often those who have no connection with the col lege, to have access to the gymnasium with heavy heeled shoes, using the mattresses, parallel bars and other apparatus. Nothing will wear out or destroy the bars, wall ma chines, mattresses and vaulting horse sooner than the use of heavy heeled and soled shoes by the students and others, as at present. The care and management of the gymnasium has been left to the marshals, and it is their duty to their fellow students to keep it in repair and above all to enforce proper use. Quite often the gymnasium has been found with no one in charge and various persons using the apparatus who have no right to enter, the , building. It is immaterial to such persons whether ,the apparatus be broken or No 2
