A Xcw magazine. Hemlock, August 12, 18G7. To the Editor of The Alleghanian : "A new magazine, devoted to radical ideas of universal suffrage, universal edu cation, equality of all men before the law, the right of every citizen, regardless of race, color, or sex, of lawful age, and unconvicted of crime, 'to participate in the choice of rulers and making of the laws by which they are to bo governed; free speech, free trade, freedom from arbitrary and illegal arrests, and the right of halcai corpus and trial by jury; moral, and, as far as possible, physical aid to the republicans of Europe in all their strug gles xvith despotism; the democratizing and liberalizing of our State and Federal constitutions as cardinal principles of their political faith, &c, tec, is about to be lauuched. The first number will b bsued next September and brought out iimultaneously in New York, New Or leans, and St. Louis. European as well as American writers will be employed as contributors, the object being to make it au organ for both hemispheres. It will contain from ninety-six to one hundred and twenty-eight pages per month, and will be furnished to subscribers at the rate of 5 per annum. C. E. Moss & Co. die iuc luuuauci a. The prospectus of the forthcoming worK indicates it to De ot gigantic con ception, and promises to be established on a basis commensurate with the underta king. Its projectors flatter themselves that they are enabled to summon to its aid the most able support in both hemis pheres. Hence, they bespeak for it a universal dissemination of democratic principles that will shed a flood of light over all the nations of the globe, and thereby dispel the clouds of despotism which havo hid from tho people for so many ages the true conception of their inalienable rights. The work indicated purports to be a most valuable acquisition to National lit erature, in order to meet the exigencies ot the times, especially to us, to advocate the establishment of sound Democratic principles on a permanent basis in our State institutions, so as to obviate every tendency to despotism in the future. A work of this kind seems to be peculiarly available to us at this juncture, as our thrice-happy country has only recently risen, amidst blood and carnage, from the thraldom of a republican despotism to the glorious realization of liberty to all her citizens, irrespective of caste; besides, tho potency of her efforts in passing tri umphantly through the ordeal of civil war shook all 'he governments of the world and stultified the greatest states men. Relieved of the burden of a 'most odious and uisgraceiul despotism, she at once ascended to the glorious zenith iu the galaxy of nations. The many recent events of history which havecrowded each other in rapid succes work T.Vit.ar1 j&W&t- or ' which, per haps, will find a more prominent place in its columns than the event of the electric fluid becoming a vehicle of thought, thro' the ocean, for it is the means of a potent tendency to the most gigantic and grand results, viz : unity of interests, uuity of principles, uuity of political sentiment in nationalities, and, the consummation of all, unify in religion. Every step towards union in the right direction, is a step towards political and social happiness. Besides asserting the principle of equal rights, on which our government is baed, it will also assert the demand of reason for unity of thought on all vital subjects. All men have the capacity to know and believe the same truths. That they do not, is cither because they neglect to apply their capacities sufficiently, or do not apply them rightly. To Consumptives. Tho advertiser, having been restore! to health in a few -weeks by a very simple remedy, after having suffered for several years -with a severe lung afi'ection, and that dread disease Consumption, i3 anx ious to make known to his fellow-sufferers the moans of cure. To nil who desire it, he will send a copy of the prescription used (free of charge,) with the directions for preparing and using the E.ime, which they will find a sure cure for Consumption, Asthma, Bronchitis, Coughs, Colds, and nil Throa- and Lung Affections. The only object of the advertiser in sending the prescription 13 to bene lit the afflicted, and pprcad information which he conceives to be invaluable, and he hopes every sufferer will try his remedy, as it will cost them nothing, nd may prove a blessing. Parties wishing the prescription, fre, by return mail, will plcnso address, Rev. Edwaku A. Wilson, Williamsburg, Kings to., Now York. July 18, ISflT-ly. (Joinq Veuy Fast!
