Dear AUmj. : Amusement and pastime art the order of the day, and there is therefore little of business interest to write about. The mammoth Circus and Men agerie of Gardner, Ilemmings & Co. ex hibited here ou Thursdav last, under a canvass of unusual proportions and in presence of very full audiences. On Monday last, the Enterprise" Base Ball club of Allegheny city played a match game with the "Kicks" of this place, which resulted in a score of 7 for the lat ter to -18 for the Allegheny club. We had also during the week a match game between the Independent anei Enterprise clubs of Johnstown, (the latter a new club,) which was closely contested but re sulted in a victory for the Independent. We leara of several new clubs forming in town. The mill still runs, with some twenty furnaces operating on single turn. The company Etore buildings aie being pushed vigorously ferward to completion, and their decigti aud appearauce command the admiration of ouc and all. The Methodist chapel is assuming the proportions of a complete building; the breaking down of a fccafTold here came near occasioning u serious accident to one of the workman, who fell to the ground and was badly bruised and cut thereby. Notwithstanding the oppressive heat of the weather, our town is comparatively healthy and generally free from auything like contagious or fatal disease. Picnics are frequent 'and well patron ized. Some fit of sickness is creep ing upon you, and should be averted by a timely use ot the right remedy. Take Ayer's Pills, and drive away ihe humors purify the blood, and let the fluids move on unobstruc tedly, in health. They stimulate the organs of the body into vigorous activity, purity the system from the obstructions which make disease. A cold settles somewhere in the body, and deranges the natural operations of that part.. This, if not relieved, will react npon itself and the surrounding organs, pro ducing general aggravation, suffering and de rangement. While in this condition, take Ayer's Pills, and see how directly they restore the natural action of the system, and with it the buoyant feeling of health. What is tru and so apparent in this trivial and common complaint is also true in many of .he deep seated and dangerous diseases. The pame purgative expels them. Caused hy similar obstructions and derangements, they are surel-, and mauy of them rapidly, cured by the same means. None who knows the vir tue of these Pills will negleet to employ them when suffering from ihe disorders they cure, such as Headache, Foul Stomach, Dysentery, Bilious Complaints, Indigestion, Derange ment of the Liver, Costiveness, Constipation, Heartburn, Rheumatism, Dropsy, Worms, aud Suppression, when taken in large doses. They are sucrar coated, so that the most sensitive can take them easily, and they are surely the best purgative medicine yet dis covered.
