When the first tuaIi of soldiers found its way to the Pennsylvania Railroad. Mr. Scott erected a line of telegraph to the Governor's room at llan-Uburg, and there sat night and day, with watch in hand, superintend ing the running of the trains, exhibiting powers of endurance literally astonishing in so moderate a physique, lie is now in charge of all the railroad lines in posses sion of the Government that Wei to Wash ington. While a publication ol all that lia3 been done would be improper, it is well to say that under an exterior of ex treme modesty, 3Ir. -Scott has performed tasks of the greatest importance to the Government, and that no man upon the side of the Union during the present cri sis has rendered more valuable aid to ' General Scott than his Philadelphia name- saice. g,Geneial Nathaniel Lyon, whose brilliant exploit at Uoonevillc is now the theme of every tongue, is a native of Con necticut, having been born near the birth place of the Hon. The experience of thousands daily proves that no preparation of Iron can be" compared with it. Impurities of the blood, depression of vital energy, pale and otherwise sickly complexions, indicate its necessitv in almost every conceivable case. Innoxious in all maladics'in which it has been tried, it has proved absolutely curative in each of the following complaints, viz.: In JJeiii), .'nvou,i Affection, Lnaciaticn J?i;iptpsia, Cviistipatiov, Dinrrhoa, Dysentery, Incipient Contumpticn, Scrofulous 'fulcrcvlosiz, Salt J: he.mii. 2IitV:n?!ruation, IVJtt'lct, Chloio- Liver Cotr.pltiintt, C'.ronic Headaches, 12 ft en maiism. Intermittent Fevers, 2'i?ii iplc on tU I Face. efc. In cases of Gfxerai. DrniMTV, whether the result of acute disease's, or "t.f tlie continued diminution of nervous and muscular energy from chronic complaints, on trial cf this re storative Las proved successful to an extent which no description nor written attestation would render credible. Invalids so long bed ridden r.s to have become forgotten iu their own neighborhoods, have suddenly reappeared in the busy world as if just returned from pro trartr d travel in a distant land. Some very signal instances of this kind are attested of female sufferers, emaciated victims of appa rent marasmus, sanguineous exhaustion, crit ical changes', aud that complication of nervous and dyspeptic aversion to air and exercise lor which the physician has r.o name. Tn AVr.vtu A-tue tiers of all kinds, find for i reasons familiar to medical men, the operation of this preparation of iron must necessarily be salutary, fur, unlike the c!d oxides, it is vigo rously tonic, without being exciting and over heating; and gently, regularly aperient, even in the most obstinate cases of costiveness, without ever being a gastric purgative, or in flicting a disagreuble sensation. It is this latter property, among others, which makes it so remarkably effectual and perma nent a remedy for I'il-.s, upon which it also appears to exert a distinct and specific action, by dispersing the local tendency Mhich forms them. Iu Byrpepsii, innumerable rsare its causes, a single box of these Chalybeate Pills has of ten sufficed for the most habitual cases, iuclu- j din" the attendant cost iveness. In unchecked ltiarrha-a. even -svhen advanced j to Jyfitery, confirmed, emaciating, and appa rently malignant, the effects have been etjually decisive and astuni.-hing. In the local pains, loss of flesh end strength, debilitating cough and remittent hectic which generally indicate Incipient Consumption, this remedy has allayed the alarm of friends and physicians, in several very gratifying and in teresting instance-p. In Scrofulous Tuberculosis this metiicated Iron has had far more than the good effect of the moit cautiously balanced preparations of iodine, without any of their well known lia bilities. The attention of females cannot be too con fidently invited to this rcTuc'y and restorative, in the cases peculiarly affecting them. In Jiiei'i.-ia'.iy.'i, both chronic and inflainato ry in the latter, however, more decidedly it has been invariably well reported, both ns alleviating pain and reducing the swellings and stiffness of the joints and muscles. In liilern it'ent Fixers it must necessarily be a great remedy end energetic restorative, and its progress in the new settlements of the West, wiil probably be one of high renown nnd use fulness. No remedy Las ever bee n discovered in. the whole history of mcdh hie which exerts such prompt, nappy and fully restorative ef fects. Good appetite, complete dige-ticn. rap id aeouisition of strength, with an unusual disposition for active and cheerful exercise immediately follow its use.
