As it very desirable that the progress uf our country in population, as well as in agriculture, manufacture, commerce, arts, A:e., should be known, correct answers to all questions should be returned. A mistaken notion has hereto fore prevailed among many that if correct answers were given, it would lead to an increase of taxation. This is not so. A fine of $00, moreover, can be levied upon a person who, through whim or caprice, refuses to answer the questions propoun ded to him by the Marshal. Mill 1 OmM I III T T rniri T rriiM - T m MTJ AN APERIENT and stomachic prepa ration of Iron purified of Oxygen and Carbon by combustion iu Hydrogen. .Sanc tioned by the highest medical authorities, both in Europe aud the United States, uud prescribed in their practice. The experience of thousands daily proves that no preparation of Iron can be compared with it. Impurities of the blood, depression of vital energy, pale and otherwise siekly complexions, indicate its necessity in almost every conceivable case. Innoxious iu till maladies in which it has been tried, it has proved absolutely curative iaeach of the following coniplaiuts, viz: In Debility, JTerrvus Affections, Emaciation, J)y.jepsia, Constipation, Jtiarrhaa, Dygenttry, Incipient Consumption, Scrofulous Tuberculosis, Salt llhttiiii, Jlisiiieutli inttwn. Whites, Cltlorn sis, Liver Complaint, Chronic. Jit -atliichvs, llhcu iiulij:n, Intermittent Fevers, I'iwplez on e Face, etc. In cases of General Debility, whether the result of acute diseases, or of the continued diminution of nervous and muscular tnerjry from chronic complaints, on trial of this re storative bus proved successful to an exteut which no description nor written attestation would render credible. Invalids so long bed ridden as to have become forgotten in their own neighborhoods, have suddenly reappeared in the busy world as if just returned from pro tracted travel in a distant land. Some very signal instances of this kind are attested of female sufferers, emaciated victims of appa rent marasmus, sanguineous exhaustion, crit ical changes, and that complication of nervous and dyspeptic aversion to .ir nnd exercise lor which the physician lias no name. In A"-r" Affections of all kinds, and for reasons familiar to medical men. the operation of this preparation of iron mu.-t necessarily be salutary, for. unlike the old oxidi s, it is vigo rously tonic, without being exciting ami over heating: and gi-ntiy, regularly aperient, even in the n;ot obstinate cases of eostiveness, without ever being a gastric purgative, or in l'icting a disagreable sensation. It illiis latterproperty. among others, which makes it so remarkably eli'ectual and perma nent a remedy for Files, upou which it al-o appears to exert a distinct and specific action, by dispersing tiie local tendency which forms them. In l)i,peprit, innumerable as are its causes, a single box of these Chalybeate I'ills has of ten sutticed for the most habitual cases, inclu ding the attendant eostiveness. In unchecked iJiarrhnta, even wheu advanced to Ihsrnfery, confirmed, emaciating, aud appa rently malignant, the effects have been equally decisive and astonishing. In the local pains, loss of flesh and strength, debilitating cough and remittent hectic which generally indicate Incipient Consumption, this remedy has allayed the alarm of friends and physicians, iu several very gratifying and in teresting instances. In Scrofulous Tuberculosis this medicated Iron has hud far more than the good effect of the most cautiously balanced preparations of iodine, without any of their well known lia bilities. The attention of females cannot be too con fidently invited to this remedy and restorative, in the cases peculiarly affecting them. In Rheumatism, both chronic and inthimr.to ry in the latter, however, more decidedly it Iihs been invariably well reported, both n alleviating pain and reducing the swellings and stitVuess of the joints and muscles. In Intermittent Jvers it must necessarily be a great remedy and energetic restorative, and its progress in the new settlement s of the West, will probably lie one of high reiuwii and use fuln"ss. No remedy has ever been discovered iu the whole history of medicine which exerts such prompt, happy anil fully restorative ef fects. ( iood appetite, complete digestion, rap id acquisition of strength, with an unusual disposition for active and cheerful exercise immediately follow its use.
