A tremendous storm of wind and rain, ac companied by tcrriffic icals of thunder and vivid flashes of lightning, occurred on Monday night. Quite a number of fruit trees were uprooted on the sugar-loaf or chard of James Myers, Esq., and transpor tation was fur a short time rendered impos sible from the number of trees that had fallen across the roads. Nothing has yet been seen or heard of Daniel T. Jones, the missing man. The citizens of Johnstown have organized an agricultural association, to be called "The Allegheny Mountain Agricultural Society." "We'll try and attend its first exhibition. We learn that it is the intention of Henry Ely, Esq., who received the second highest number of voles for the office of County Superintendent in this county, to contest ihe election of Maj. Thomas A. Maguire, on the ground that he is not a citizen of the State. Mr. Maguire, it will be recol lected, remoed from this place to Daven port, where he fcrsomc time was engaged is an editor of a paper, but subsequently returned and settled down again. The initiatory steps in the matter have already been taken. In Li ck. The darkest hour is said to be just before dawn, and we find it true ; for one da last week, when we had effec tually succeeded in cleaning out our stock-in-hand of si'-rars, and consequently was in a state of extreme mental depression, Robert Davis, Esq., of the firm of Davis - Jones, nobly came to the rescue, and unburdeucd his liberal soul by presenting us with a cool hundred of the commodity in question.
