Editorial Etchings. Through the kinJnr3 of our friend, John P. Jones, EJ- we have been favored with a copy of a newspaper entitled the "Cambria Ga xctte," published in this town, in the year 1325, by Messrs. Murray &, McFarland. It is quite a small paper not being more tban half the size of The Alleyfuxnian aad it typographical execution is of the cH-fashioaed style. Its market report exhibits a marked difference from that of the present day oats at that time selling for 12 and 13 cents per bushel, with flat tering indications ot a speedy fall. It is certainly an old residenter. The Johns town "Ingleside Circle" an association lately formed for the purpose of regen erating the dilapidated condition into which the social interests of the young of both sexes of that place had fallen, has, after an existence of about three months, during which time an infinite amouut of good was accomplished by it, been dis- aolred. From th Presbyterian Banner, we learn that Rev. Richard Evans, former ly of this place, and lately a student of the Western Theological Seminary, whj was sent to Washington Territory by the Board f Domestic Missions, had arrived safely at San Francisco, according to latest advice, tad would leave by the next steamer for his future field of labor. Last Saturday was a dreadfully mixed up sert of day.- The sun Nhone for a time, and then it Tained, mowed, blowed, froze and thawed, in delightful succession, throughout the eutirc day. Mr. Thomas Devino is still engaged in the Tailoring business, at his old stand, in the rear of his Drug store, and holds himself prepared to accommo date his friends and customers with the snost approved ts at short notice. The contributions ef r citizens, daring the present month, towards the completion of the Washington Monument, amount to the enormous sum of seven cents ! Verily- pat riotism must be below par in the Mountain Village Mr. Lewis, the new Supcrin tendent of the Pennsylvania Railroad, has entered upon the discharge of the duties incumbent upon hb office. Andrew G. Curtin, the nominee for Governor, had a public reoeptien and made a speech in Huntingdon, on Tuesday, of last week. A serious drawback towards the suc cessful performance of business or pleasure engagements could be very desirably over come by the establishing of a livery stable in this place. Horses and buggies are scarcely to be had for either llove or mon y" especially for the former. Chap ter viii of the History of Cambria County gives a truthful accountof the various acts of Assembly which gave to the Mountain County a local habitation and a name and defined her boundaries. Read it. By reference to another column, our readers w-11 perceive that a change has been made Q the time of the arrival of trains at Wil- more station. Particular attention is directed to the new advertise ment of our energetic friend, Cham Rob ots, in another column. Cham has just returned from the eastern cities with an wtirely new stock of clocks, watches, jewelry, musical instruments, etc., and the rowds that daily visit his establibhment ud carry off (after paying for them) ppe eimens of his stock in trade, argue well frr the ultimate .prosperity of the enter prise. It would be only a reiteration of what we have already said, and what everybody already knows, to state that the '"Book" is one of the best fashion magazines now published ; that it contains more and bet ter reading matter, choicer poetry, and more valuable recipes at present than it ever did before, needs only a perusal to convince the most skeptic.
