The man who marries happily, may be Baid to
be transported for life. ' ,
The young gentleman who flew into a passion
has had his wings clipped. ,
We have heard of a man so witty that his wife
manufactures all the butter that the family uses
from the cream of his jokes. J :
Two French ladies, who were in San Francisco
when the Japanese arrived there, were anxious to
go on board the vessel where the foreigners were.
But ladies could not be received. Nevertheless,
they put on portions of their husbands' wardrobe
and made the visit. They escaped detection while
they only talked, for neither party could under
stand the other ; when, however, they shook hands
with the Admiral, a peculiar smile passed over his
features, and he immediately caused an attendant
to dive into his cabin and bring out a variety of
hair-pins, bracelets, furs, and other things per
taining to the female toilet. He said, with an Ori
ental wink at his interpreter, that he could not be
mistaken in the pressure of a lady's hand.'.
